Introducing John and Elizabeth
The farmers of Rio Gozo's Ventura CSA.
Starting last summer Ventura residents had the opportunity to participate in Rio Gozo's latest good idea. We expanded our current CSA down river.
CSA, which stands for "Community Supported Agriculture," is a farm program offering subscribers a weekly box of seasonal, fresh produce and a chance to have a direct connection to the food put on the table. In addition, becoming a CSA member is activism- subscribers support local food and small farms; in doing so they ensure healthy land stewardship practices.
John Fonteyn and Steve Sprinkel, a pair of the most intelligent (and surprisingly poetic) farmers around, designated 3 acres of newly cultivated land at Rio Gozo Farm to serve 45 families in the Ventura area. That is a small number of subscriptions available for an area as large as Ventura. It's a start but we're sure we'll grow.

We're looking forward to putting local food on your plate.
